Registration Information:

  • Registration: Begins Friday, May 31, 2019 — Closes Tuesday, July 9, 2019 @ 12 noon

  • Check-In: Sunday, July 7. 2019 — 8:00am to 11:00am

  • $5.00 Entry Fee for each entry (animal) in each division

  • Exhibitor must also purchase an Exhibitor’s Pass for $25 from the Fair Office

  • Release: Saturday @ 6:00pm or at the end of Saturday’s Fun Day

CLASS 53: LOOSE LINE / TIMED EVENTS

  • 4) Honey Do Obstacle Course – two-person event**

  • 5) Feed Wagon Race – Team-timed event (one driver and one stacker) – A team can only go through the course once.

  • 6) Mini-Driver (non-4-H) Junior 5-8 year olds

 **In Honey Do: ONE ENTRY PER OWNER IS ALLOWED
There is an additional fee of $10.00 to participate in these classes and win the “pot”. Your money for the “pot” is due during meeting before the course.
Course, Honey Do List and amount of the “pot” will be explained at the meeting of teamsters before the events.    

 

RULES FOR ALL DRAFT HORSE AND MULE DEPARTMENT

ENTRIES:

  • a) Driving (all classes, except youth and halter) class, exhibitor must be 18 years old and older.

  • b) Halter and youth classes exhibitor must be in 3rd grade or 9 years or older, and accompanied by Qualified Driver (over 18 years of age).  

  • c) Multiple hitch drivers must be 18 years old and older and needs to be accompanied by Qualified Multiple Team Driver (over 18 years of age) and has driven multiples.

  • d) Drivers must be affiliated with the LaPorte County Draft Horse Association or the 4H Wagonmasters Club (except for friends of the breed) and the entry must be entered under the horse owners’ name.

  • e) Exhibitor must own all animals shown. During sign up you must indicate that you will be using another horse on the grounds to complete your multi horse exhibit.

  • f) It is at the judge’s discretion to make changes to the course for participants’ safety and enhancement of the course.  The judge’s decision is final and will be upheld.

  • g) In farm classes, no high-wheeled, fifth-wheel or parade wagons allowed.

  • h) Scotch bottom shoes are allowed.

  • i) Any exceptions must be cleared by the superintendent

SHOW ATTIRE:

  • a) Shirt with collar and work shoes or boots.

  • b) All exhibitors working with animals must wear boots.

CARE OF ANIMAL:

  • a)  Exhibitor must properly care for animal including stall work, grooming, care of tack and feeding on average of twice a day.

  • b)  All hoof trimming and shoeing of equine should be done prior to entry day of fair.

  • c)  Any animal found to be in poor health or poor condition (such as thin), will not be admitted to the fair.

  • d)  All animals must conform to Health Regulations and Vaccinations

    • Required shots: Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis, Rhinopneunonitis, Influenza, West Nile Virus, Strangles, Rabies Immunization. 

    • Any animal to be shown in 4-H or Open Class must show Health Papers from their personal veterinarian per Indiana State Animal requirements.

  • e) All animals must be faced inwards in their stalls.

PREMIUMS:

  • a) No premium will be paid if:

    • the exhibitor does not wear the correct exhibitor number for the entry

    • the animals are not entered in the correct division

  • b) There must be three entries in a division for placing to be paid

  • c) Premium checks for prize money will be available for pickup in the fair office starting Monday after fair or can be mailed with prior notice. If checks are not retrieved prior to September 15 they will be forfeited..
